Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing process development for advanced defense hardware including missiles, static equipment, and complex vehicles. You will manage a manufacturing engineering team responsible for driving process improvements, ensuring production quality, and supporting new product development and scaling to full-scale production.
Key responsibilities include executing manufacturing from prototyping through large-scale production; leading a team on on-time delivery of development and production units; collaborating with design engineers on design-for-manufacturing best practices; acting as manufacturing lead for mechanical fabrication and avionics; owning production documentation (MBOMs, work instructions); upholding quality management programs; facilitating make-versus-buy decisions and vendor coordination; defining capacity planning to meet customer needs; analyzing metrics for continuous improvement (cost reduction, quality improvement, capacity increase); fostering innovation and accountability within the team; developing production and test methodologies for scaling; and traveling to supplier and partner sites for sourcing, problem-solving, and process implementation.
Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or hard science; 8+ years in manufacturing or prototyping; demonstrated direct team leadership with examples; world-class mission assurance and quality focus; genuine interest in manufacturing; ability to deliver hardware in resource-constrained environments; hands-on hardware manufacturing experience (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly); eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred: Experience building or transforming production operations and leading large-scale change management; harness and PCBA fabrication experience including SMT processes; leadership on fast-paced, complex projects; hands-on R/C and autonomous flight vehicle experience.
