Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the manufacturing operations for its advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) including Bolt, Ghost, Anvil, and future autonomous platforms. This role bridges cutting-edge design with efficient, high-volume production, requiring both technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
Key responsibilities include building and mentoring a high-performing team of Manufacturing Engineers across mechanical, electrical, system integration, and end-of-line testing disciplines. You will lead product transitions from concept through prototype, pilot, and full production phases, ensuring speed, flexibility, scalability, and first-time quality. Daily sustaining support includes real-time problem-solving for mechanical fitment, electrical/harnessing, and software/firmware issues.
You will work cross-functionally with design, quality, and supply chain teams to embed design-for-manufacturing best practices early in development. Responsibilities include owning manufacturing documentation (MBOMs, work instructions, requirements), upholding quality management programs, facilitating make-versus-buy decisions, and coordinating vendor management. You will contribute to end-customer hardware design including interconnects and board fabrication/inspection.
The role emphasizes continuous improvement through metrics analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and capacity increases. You will instill a culture of innovation, teamwork, and accountability within the manufacturing engineering team.
Required: degree in engineering, math, or hard science; 5+ years in manufacturing or prototyping; demonstrated team leadership with examples; world-class mission assurance and quality focus; creative problem-solving in resource-constrained environments; eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred: experience building/transforming production operations and leading large-scale change management; harness and PCBA fabrication experience including SMT processes; fast-paced complex project leadership; hands-on experience with R/C or autonomous flight vehicles; software scripting; NX/Teamcenter experience.
