Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations to harness IoT data for actionable insights across physical operations including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.
You will serve as the technical anchor for ML infrastructure across Samsara's Safety AI organization. This is a high-ownership role where you will own the architecture and evolution of the end-to-end ML platform spanning training, experimentation, inference, and edge deployment across more than 2M deployed devices. You are the technical lead—not an execution role under someone else—and your decisions shape platform direction, unblock multiple product teams, and translate directly into real-world safety outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
• Set technical strategy and own end-to-end delivery of Samsara's ML platform (training, experimentation, batch/online inference, edge deployment), making architectural decisions and serving as the accountability point across all platform layers for multiple Safety AI product teams.
• Design and implement experimentation and measurement infrastructure that enables rapid iteration and validates impact across the Safety AI portfolio.
• Architect systems for deploying and managing ML models at scale across 2M+ edge devices, ensuring reliability, security, and performance in production environments.
• Serve as the connective tissue between applied ML teams, security, and data platform, translating requirements into platform capabilities and ensuring cross-functional alignment.
• Mentor and guide applied ML engineers on platform best practices, unblocking technical challenges and accelerating their ability to ship safety-critical features.
• Drive continuous improvement of platform tooling, observability, and developer experience to reduce friction and increase velocity across the organization.
You should have deep experience building ML infrastructure at scale, strong systems thinking, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating across multiple teams. The role is calibrated at Staff, Senior Staff, or Principal level depending on candidate experience and scope.
