Salary: USD 138,200 - 190,100 / annual

Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The Special Programs team is a rapid-prototyping, cross-functional engineering group supporting advanced and defense-focused development efforts. As Lead Engineer for Avionics & Electrical, you will own the avionics and electrical discipline within Special Programs, bringing deep expertise in sensor and mission-systems integration, electrical architecture, and avionics-to-airframe integration for prototype vehicles. You will lead design and integration efforts end-to-end, from concept architecture through bench integration, ground test, and flight test support. Key responsibilities include: leading avionics and electrical design for prototype vehicles; supporting rapid prototyping efforts across the full development lifecycle; setting technical approach, standards, and integration methods for your discipline; conducting technical feasibility assessments of new opportunities and emerging concepts; serving as a cross-functional technical contributor across Special Programs when needed; collaborating with program leads and broader engineering teams; producing technical documentation and trade studies; and representing Special Programs work in internal reviews and government stakeholder discussions. You will work independently with significant technical ownership in a small, empowered team built to move fast. This role requires 8–12 years of relevant aerospace or defense engineering experience, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Avionics, or Computer Engineering (advanced degree preferred), and demonstrated expertise in avionics or electrical systems design and integration. Familiarity with data bus and communication protocols (ARINC, CAN, MIL-STD-1553) is valuable. You must be a U.S. Person and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. The role emphasizes versatility, the ability to evaluate early-stage technical feasibility, and comfort operating as a generalist when program needs require it.
