Salary: USD 225,000 - 280,000 / annual

Descript is seeking a Lead Product Manager for the Narrative Editing team to own the script-based editing features that are core to the platform's value proposition for professional creators. You will shape how users capture, edit, and perfect their stories—from script-first editing that makes video as simple as a document, to recording and writing tools that keep creators within Descript, to AI regeneration features that make edits feel seamless and natural. Key responsibilities include: - Develop deep customer understanding of creative goals and the evolving AI video landscape to guide the editor roadmap - Bring Descript's design taste into interactions and defaults so creators naturally produce polished, professional work - Expand editing capabilities by partnering with the AI Research team to launch frontier features like video regeneration and automatic speaker identification - Own the recording, script generation, and translation flows that enable end-to-end video workflows within Descript - Ensure the platform scales reliably for larger teams and more complex workflows You will work with a small, collaborative team where your impact is immediate and visible. Requirements: - 5+ years of product management experience shipping creative tools or workflow products - Demonstrated ability to design intuitive experiences for complex, end-to-end workflows that scale from simple use cases to sophisticated ones - Strong customer discovery and problem-definition skills; preference for understanding customer needs before building AI-first solutions - Comfort with ambiguous problems and ability to translate ideas into action - Attention to craft and detail; focus on building products people love to use - Systems-minded product thinking with experience in workflow design
