Qonto is Europe's leading finance workspace for SMEs, combining banking with financial tools. Founded in 2017, the company now serves over 750,000 customers across 8 European countries and has been profitable since 2023. With 1,700 employees across 80+ nationalities and 45% women representation, Qonto emphasizes merit-based hiring and has embedded AI throughout its operations.
You will lead Qonto's Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) production team, reporting to Florence Cervoni, Anti-Financial Crime Director (Western Europe). This is a hands-on operational leadership role focused on delivering consistent, high-quality EDD production while developing a growing team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead daily production operations: organize workloads, monitor incoming cases, track backlog and output, resolve blockers, and establish KPIs for volumes, progress, and performance.
- Support sound EDD decisions: provide second opinions and four-eyes checks, guide complex investigations and risk assessments, ensure verified sources and clear assessment memos, and help escalate high-risk cases.
- Improve review quality: deepen customer-profile reviews, improve consistency as capacity grows, and balance thorough investigation with timely delivery.
- Enhance customer experience: collaborate with customer-facing and Operations teams to clarify EDD requests, reduce unnecessary back-and-forth, and maintain robust controls.
- Develop team members: onboard and coach team members through real cases, share best practices, build autonomy, and step into production during workload spikes.
- Drive continuous improvement: improve EDD workflows and handoffs with KYC/KYB and Operations, use production insights to reduce friction, and keep operational procedures current.
- Manage AI-assisted EDD: monitor AI activity, control coverage, and coordinate improvements with Security.
Your manager, Florence Cervoni, is a certified AML specialist with extensive financial crime and compliance experience from BoursoBank, Société Générale, and Crédit du Nord. She brings hands-on expertise, process-improvement skills, and strong leadership in regulated environments.
Qonto values diversity and encourages applications from all backgrounds. The company offers exposure to evolving compliance operations as it scales toward becoming a bank, with opportunities to deepen EDD expertise and develop leadership skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Solid KYC/AML, EDD, or related financial-crime experience, including hands-on production work.
- Regulatory and investigative expertise: ability to apply KYC/KYB and AML/CFT requirements to complex customer profiles, verify sources, identify risk patterns, and document clear, well-supported conclusions.
- Production management skills: organize work, prioritize cases, monitor backlog and capacity, and use KPIs to improve delivery without compromising quality.
- Leadership potential: guide colleagues, provide practical feedback, and help a relatively junior/new team grow. Formal management experience is not essential; understanding the lead role and readiness to step up are required.
- Stakeholder management and customer focus: collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, stay composed under pressure, reduce customer friction without compromising controls, and escalate when needed.
- Continuous improvement mindset and technical curiosity: seek better ways to work, use EDD tools confidently, and explore AI with critical evaluation of outputs and limitations.
- Language requirements: fluent in English and French; another European language is a plus.
