Elliptic is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to own and evolve DevOps practices across the organization. This is a hands-on team leadership role combining deep technical expertise with people management. You'll lead a team of DevOps engineers while staying actively involved in technical work, setting direction on infrastructure, automation, and reliability.
Key responsibilities include owning the DevOps and Platform roadmap, architecting multi-cluster, multi-region Kubernetes environments on AWS/GCP, and implementing modern infrastructure patterns using CNCF-aligned tools. You'll champion GitOps practices with Flux/ArgoCD, design Zero Trust architectures using Vault and service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), and establish policy-driven automation with OPA and Kyverno. The role involves designing CI/CD workflows with SAST/DAST integration, improving reliability through SLOs and chaos engineering, and collaborating with Security, Data, and AI teams on platform architecture.
You'll lead by example—engineering, reviewing, and enhancing infrastructure while mentoring your team. Emerging areas include prototyping agentic infrastructure components, designing AI Gateways for microservice and autonomous agent routing, and staying ahead of CNCF and AI ecosystem innovations including eBPF observability and agent-aware orchestration.
Core expertise required: strong Kubernetes knowledge (cluster lifecycle, Operators, Helm, CNCF ecosystem), multi-cluster/multi-region platform design with service meshes, Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform, GitOps pipeline implementation, containerized systems with observability (DataDog, Splunk, OpenTelemetry), platform security (Vault, least privilege, compliance automation), and CI/CD workflow design. Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams with the ability to set technical direction is essential.
Nice-to-have skills include platform modernization in scale-up/regulated environments, Operator development, eBPF/Cilium expertise, policy-as-code (OPA/Kyverno), AI-driven internal developer platforms, agentic infrastructure design, secure containers/confidential computing, data-intensive systems (Spark, Databricks), and Go/Python/TypeScript programming. Open-source or CNCF community contributions are valued.
