GitLab is seeking a Customer Advocacy Manager for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region to lead customer advocacy initiatives and turn GitLab's most successful customers into visible, influential champions. Reporting into the growth marketing organization, you will own the day-to-day development and delivery of customer advocacy programs across APJ, working in close partnership with regional sales, marketing, customer success, and global teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the APJ customer story, reference, and proof library and associated pipeline
- Building and nurturing relationships with customer advocates and senior stakeholders to identify opportunities for references, case studies, events, and thought leadership
- Managing the full customer advocacy lifecycle: identifying and recruiting advocates, understanding their goals, coordinating participation, and maintaining mutually valuable relationships
- Bringing customer voice into GitLab's narratives, campaigns, and go-to-market plans through collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Partnering with regional and global teams to align advocacy initiatives with pipeline, expansion, and retention priorities
- Defining and tracking program metrics such as advocacy participation, reference fulfillment, pipeline influence, and customer-story impact
- Prioritizing and coordinating advocacy requests using clear intake, fulfillment, and reporting processes
- Adapting engagement and storytelling approaches to APJ's diverse markets and customer contexts, working effectively across cultures and time zones
- Continuously improving programs, content formats, and engagement models based on customer feedback and business needs
In your first year, you will establish clear, measurable advocacy goals for the region, strengthen collaboration with regional stakeholders, and increase the visibility of customer outcomes across go-to-market motions.
Requirements:
- Experience building or delivering customer advocacy, customer marketing, customer reference, or related customer story programs in enterprise technology or SaaS
- Strong history of creating impactful customer stories and proof, with advanced understanding of the customer reference lifecycle
- Track record coordinating across multiple markets with understanding of APJ customer considerations
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence sales, marketing, customer success, and other stakeholders without direct authority
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including ability to engage confidently with executive stakeholders on business and technical topics
- Strong program management skills: prioritizing competing requests, coordinating details across teams, and delivering reliably in changing environments
- Ability to work autonomously and asynchronously in a fully remote environment while staying aligned to shared goals and processes
- Comfort defining and reporting on program performance, including customer participation, reference support, pipeline influence, and other measures tied to regional objectives
