Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting growing demand for launch capacity. The Components team is responsible for all fluid control devices across Terran R, from propulsion to stage systems, enabling integrated and informed design approaches. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers working on valves and accompanying systems through design, development, testing, and production. You will own every aspect of multiple products and integrate with partner teams such as Propulsion, Avionics, and Stage Fluids to ensure components function seamlessly within the broader vehicle architecture. With design, manufacturing, and test assets co-located, you'll see firsthand how your designs perform and iterate quickly based on real-world data. You will be responsible for recruiting, career development, and mentoring engineers on your team. This role involves a range of skillsets: design, analysis (thermodynamics, structures, fluids, electrical), manufacturing, test, project management, communication, and leadership. You will work across teams and departments, take ownership of projects, and lead highly technical and collaborative initiatives to completion with minimal oversight. The team is continuously advancing products, including developing novel clean-sheet designs for upcoming vehicle and engine upgrades, while improving existing designs to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, 5+ years of experience in fluid control devices, valves, and/or mechanisms design and analysis, proven leadership experience through mentoring or managing complex interdisciplinary projects, and strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, structures, and fluids.
