Graphcore is seeking a Bring-up & Characterisation Engineer to lead the validation and characterisation of next-generation AI processors. You will own the critical phase where silicon devices and system platforms are tested and validated before reaching customers, ensuring reliability and performance. You will build and lead a team responsible for developing comprehensive characterisation plans, automating testing workflows, and analysing results across silicon and system platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll work closely with architecture, silicon, hardware, operations, and product teams to solve complex technical challenges and influence product design. Key responsibilities include: - Leading a newly formed team within Manufacturing Operations - Developing characterisation strategies and test automation frameworks - Analysing silicon performance data and system-level behaviour - Collaborating across Bristol, Cambridge, and Taiwan offices - Removing technical blockers and improving engineering processes - Shaping team direction and culture as the group scales You bring proven experience delivering technical outcomes as an individual contributor, manager, or project lead, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You have solid hands-on experience in silicon digital device design, bring-up, and characterisation, with deep understanding of silicon process technology and its impact on performance. Your expertise spans high-performance processors, SoC architectures, and high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR). You're experienced with measurement automation, data analysis, and developing code/scripts for automated testing. A bachelor's degree and background with ATE systems are essential. Desirable skills include PCBA/system-level technologies and project management experience.
