Impulse is seeking a Lead Avionics Engineer to develop avionics systems for next-generation space vehicles. You will manage a team of electrical and mechanical engineers responsible for custom circuit board design, manufacturing, and testing, with a focus on rapid development of high-reliability electronics. Key responsibilities include driving program execution and schedule, owning system trades and analysis, requirement tracking, and risk mitigation. You will support hardware from concept through design, production, integration, and flight operations. As a technical leader, you will establish and maintain high standards, mentor junior engineers, and develop qualification and test campaigns to verify designs meet mission requirements. You will collaborate closely with mission managers, software engineers, propulsion engineers, integration teams, and customers throughout the spacecraft electronics development lifecycle. Your role spans architecting new systems, building prototypes, and operating them in the field. You will drive continuous improvements to make systems more efficient, manufacturable, and reliable. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; 5+ years professional experience designing electronics for rockets, spacecraft, or vehicles; hands-on expertise with electronic component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout; knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, power management, microcontrollers, and high-speed interfaces (SPI, Ethernet, RS-422); hands-on troubleshooting experience at the board level; and 1+ years leading a team or technical project.
