Kulu is seeking an AI Product Manager to lead technical and product ownership of AI systems at the core of their platform. This is a hands-on, player-coach role combining deep technical leadership with people management. You will lead a team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in technical decisions, architecture, and implementation. The role requires someone who understands AI product deeply, develops strong opinions about system design, and can guide engineers while also coding when needed. You'll own the complete production agent system—LLM orchestration, multi-agent control flow, deterministic logic vs. model-controlled decisions, tool use, grounding, context management, prompts, and reliability. Key responsibilities include: - Design and evolve production agent architecture, including LLM selection, multi-agent orchestration, control flow, state management, and prompt engineering - Deeply understand agent behavior in production; conduct root-cause analysis on failures and translate findings into architectural and prompt improvements - Own technical direction of the agent system, making decisions about what's deterministic vs. delegated to LLMs, model selection, and evaluation approaches - Lead and develop the engineering team: assign ownership, provide guidance and code review, conduct performance reviews, and drive hiring - Remain hands-on: read production code, debug failures, edit and test prompts, prototype solutions, evaluate models, and ship production changes Success is measured by continuous improvement in agent quality—judgment, reliability, helpfulness, and consistency with real users. The role requires exceptional software engineering fundamentals, significant production experience with modern LLMs, strong intuition for LLM behavior and prompt design, and excellent product judgment. Kulu operates as a high-performance, high-bandwidth team with daily standups, constant communication, and real-time problem-solving. The company is deliberately building an in-person culture in Bali, and this role will model that approach while helping build a high-performance office culture.
