The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo transport and eventual human missions. The Future Projects unit focuses on expanding capabilities through new technology development and program conceptualization.
As a Propulsion Systems Engineer within the Launch Systems Team, you will define and mature propulsion architectures for next-generation launch and space transportation solutions. Your responsibilities include performing trade-off analyses at system and subsystem levels, defining system-level requirements with proper flow-down to lower-level specifications, and establishing concepts of operations for propulsion systems. You will develop and maintain functional and product breakdowns, create technical budgets (mass, propellant, inert gas, power), and contribute to development, verification, validation, and industrialization planning.
You will own propulsion-specific future projects and work packages, supporting commercial and program teams in proposal development and negotiation. Day-to-day activities include coordinating with external partners in co-engineering sessions, managing RIDs (Requirements Interface Documents), and overseeing subcontractor coordination and datapack delivery.
The ideal candidate holds an MSc in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field with 5+ years of aerospace industry experience, preferably in launch system programs. Early-phase (Phase 0/A/B) propulsion system engineering experience is essential. Strong programming skills (Python, Fortran, Matlab) and experience with analysis tools like EcosimPro are required. Hands-on operational experience in propulsion testing or launch operations is highly valued.
You should demonstrate strong oral and written communication, analytical problem-solving, task organization, and the ability to engage at all organizational levels. Fluency in English is required; German, French, or Italian is advantageous. The company values vision, competence, integrity, and passion, seeking team members excited about transforming the European space industry.
