Isar Aerospace is seeking a Launch Pad Operations Engineer to join their team at the Andøya spaceport in northern Norway. You will play a critical role in test and launch campaigns for the Spectrum launch vehicle, working closely with design engineers and technicians from the company's German headquarters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Executing launch campaigns from preparation through pad readiness to ground and vehicle system operations from the launch operations center
- Preparing and conducting stage test campaigns in advance of Spectrum vehicle launches
- Developing and improving operational procedures and processes to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations
- Maintaining high quality standards when handling flight hardware and systems that interface with the launch vehicle
- Performing maintenance and improvement activities on launch infrastructure
You should have a relevant engineering degree (aerospace, mechanical, or similar) and hands-on experience developing or testing complex systems, ideally involving extreme operating conditions such as cryogenic temperatures, high pressures, or hazardous materials. Experience with test data acquisition and analysis (Python/Matlab), understanding of fluid and mechanical system design, and multidisciplinary troubleshooting are essential. You must be able to perform effectively in high-stress environments, work independently in dynamic settings, and possess physical dexterity for confined space work (ability to lift 25kg). Fluency in English is required; Norwegian and German are helpful.
Bonus qualifications include hands-on experience with fluid systems and piping, and knowledge of rocket propulsion systems or structures. The role offers relocation support, 6 weeks vacation, employee share participation, wellness allowance, learning budget, and subsidized lunch.
