Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit using advanced 3D printing manufacturing. As a Launch Operations Engineer I, you will be a critical member of the launch team at Cape Canaveral, operating at the intersection of propulsion, ground systems, and flight operations.
In this role, you will have direct responsibility for critical systems during live rocket launches. You will conduct complex propulsion tests and launch operations to evaluate rocket engine and stage performance. Your work spans from hands-on hardware integration and system configuration at the launch pad to commanding flight hardware through integrated control software and analyzing real-time telemetry during countdown and liftoff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting propulsion tests and launch operations to evaluate rocket engine and stage performance
- Creating and optimizing automated test sequences, procedures, and data review processes for safe, efficient, and repeatable execution
- Commanding and monitoring launch pad and flight hardware through control GUIs, automation, and telemetry systems
- Performing hardware setup, system configuration, and cross-disciplinary troubleshooting
- Analyzing test data and partnering with design engineering to improve rocket system performance
You will operate under pressure during live launches, make real-time decisions, and help guide vehicles from initial power-up through liftoff. The launch team at Cape Canaveral offers unmatched exposure to all major aspects of the Terran R program, from stages and payloads to ground systems, landing, and refurbishment. This is where first flights happen and where the scale of operations is unlike anything in modern aerospace.
