Via is transforming transportation through technology, and this role sits at the intersection of operational strategy and execution. As Launch Operations Associate Principal, you will lead the launch of new, complex transit services across high-visibility markets. You will own the full lifecycle of each launch—from technology implementation and operational setup through service performance management and partner relationships. You will lead a 30+ person frontline team of field operators and drivers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and culture-building. You will define and manage KPIs spanning on-time performance, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost efficiency, translating weekly and monthly performance data into actionable decisions. Your responsibilities span multiple dimensions: Launch & Service Performance (owning new service launches, managing performance metrics, and translating data into decisions); People Leadership (building and developing a 30+ team, hiring frontline leaders for long-term operations, and creating accountability and pride); Partner & Stakeholder Management (owning Via's relationship with transit agency partners—public entities with boards and elected officials—and representing Via to community stakeholders and riders); Operational Excellence (driving continuous improvement in vehicle operations, maintenance, and service delivery while identifying cost and efficiency gains); and Product Development (influencing the product roadmap for Via's newest product lines). This is a generalist leadership opportunity offering exposure across strategy, operations, product, and technology. The role requires a willingness to travel up to 50% of the time. You will be setting up Via's newest services from the ground up, not managing existing operations—the decisions you make will shape how markets run for years. Requirements: - Minimum 3+ years of experience in operations, consulting, strategy, tech, or a field with meaningful client accountability and demonstrated ability to lead large projects and develop teams - Ownership mentality: you get things done, plan ahead, manage risks, design preventive processes, and own problems when they arise - Leadership instinct and experience: ability to motivate and inspire individuals from drivers to transit agency CEOs - Effective multitasking: ability to delegate, prioritize, and take responsibility - Attention to detail and operational judgment: comfort with both spreadsheets and field work - Partner and stakeholder sophistication: ability to manage complex, high-stakes relationships not fully in your control - Mission alignment: genuine embrace of Via's role serving public agencies and communities with limited transportation options - Flexibility and adaptability: comfort with rapid change and making things work on the fly
