Salary: USD 95,000 - 115,000 / annual
Via is transforming transportation globally through technology-enabled mobility solutions. As Launch Operations Associate Principal, you will lead the launch and operational execution of new, complex transit services across high-visibility markets. This is a full-scope leadership role combining strategy, operations, and execution.
You will own the complete launch lifecycle for new Via services, including technology implementation, operational setup, and service performance management. You'll lead a 30+ team of field operators and drivers through the launch transition, setting up entirely new operational systems from the ground up—not managing existing ones. Your decisions will shape how markets operate for years to come.
Key responsibilities include:
**Launch & Service Performance:** Own the end-to-end launch of new services. Define and manage KPIs spanning on-time performance, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost efficiency. Translate weekly and monthly performance data into actionable decisions.
**People Leadership:** Lead and develop a 30+ frontline team including hiring, coaching, performance management, and culture-building. Develop frontline leaders who will run long-term operations. Build accountability, support, and pride in delivery.
**Partner & Stakeholder Management:** Own Via's relationship with transit agency partners (public entities with boards, elected officials, and community accountability). Represent Via to community stakeholders, local officials, and riders.
**Operational Excellence:** Drive continuous improvement across vehicle operations, maintenance protocols, and service delivery. Identify and execute cost and efficiency improvements that strengthen margins without compromising service quality.
**Product Development:** Influence the product roadmap for Via's newest product lines.
This role requires up to 50% travel and is ideal for a generalist seeking exposure across strategy, operations, and product/technology in a high-stakes, high-impact environment.
**Requirements:**
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in operations, consulting, strategy, tech, or a field with meaningful client accountability
- Demonstrated ability to lead large projects and develop teams
- Ownership mentality: planning ahead, managing risks, designing preventive processes, and taking accountability for outcomes
- Leadership instinct and experience motivating individuals from frontline staff to executive leadership
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, delegate effectively, and prioritize
- Strong attention to detail and operational judgment; comfort with both spreadsheets and field work
- Sophistication in managing complex, high-stakes stakeholder relationships outside your direct control
- Mission alignment with public agency partnerships serving underserved communities
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapid change and on-the-fly problem-solving
