Via is transforming transportation globally through technology-enabled mobility solutions. As a Launch Associate Principal, you will lead the end-to-end launch of new, complex transit services across high-visibility markets. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York with up to 50% travel required.
You will own the complete operational and technology transition for new Via services, serving as the leader of transit network transformations. Your responsibilities span strategy, execution, and people leadership across multiple dimensions:
**Launch & Service Performance:** Own the full launch cycle from technology implementation through operational setup. Define and manage KPIs across on-time performance, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost efficiency. Translate weekly and monthly performance data into actionable decisions that shape market operations for years to come.
**People Leadership:** Lead a 30+ team of field operators and drivers during the launch transition. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, performance management, and culture-setting. You will develop frontline leaders who will run long-term operations, building an organization where people feel accountable, supported, and proud.
**Partner & Stakeholder Management:** Own Via's relationship with transit agency partners (public entities with boards, elected officials, and community accountability). Represent Via to community stakeholders, local officials, and riders. Navigate complex, high-stakes relationships that are not fully within your control.
**Operational Excellence:** Drive continuous improvement across vehicle operations, maintenance protocols, and service delivery. Identify and execute cost and efficiency improvements that strengthen margins without compromising service quality.
**Product Development:** Influence the product roadmap for Via's newest product lines, ensuring technology and operations align.
This role is ideal for a generalist seeking exposure across strategy, operations, and product/technology in a high-impact, high-visibility environment. You will be setting up new operational systems from the ground up in markets requiring significant transformation.
**Requirements:**
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in operations, consulting, strategy, tech, or a field with meaningful client accountability
- Demonstrated ability to lead large projects and develop teams
- Ownership mentality: proactive problem-solving, risk management, and process design
- Leadership instinct and experience motivating diverse groups from frontline staff to C-suite executives
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with strong delegation and prioritization skills
- Attention to detail and operational judgment; comfort with both spreadsheets and field work
- Sophistication in managing complex, high-stakes stakeholder relationships
- Mission alignment with public mobility and community service
- Flexibility and adaptability in rapidly changing environments
