Sona is an AI-powered workforce management platform serving frontline businesses (hospitality, retail) across the UK and US. The company has raised over $100M and serves 100+ enterprise customers, with offices in London, New York, Austin, and Lisbon.
The Labour AI Specialist role bridges Sona's forecasting and scheduling technology with real-world customer implementation. You will work directly with hospitality and retail customers to translate Sona's labour models into operational reality at individual sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deriving labour rules from trading data using Sona's tools and your operational knowledge
- Spending time on-site with customer teams to understand practical business realities (stock deliveries, close procedures, staffing quirks)
- Building trust with site managers to ensure new workload models are actually adopted
- Presenting impact and ROI to customer executives and general managers to win buy-in for operational changes
- Acting as the labour optimisation subject matter expert in sales conversations
- Managing a portfolio of live customer projects, shifting priorities as needed
This is an influence and analytical role requiring you to understand how frontline businesses actually operate day-to-day, not just from data. You'll adapt the same underlying labour model across different business types (QSR, premium dining, retail) without a fixed playbook.
Requirements:
- Operational background in hospitality, retail, or similar hourly-workforce, fluctuating-demand business; you must understand how the business runs day-to-day, not just how to analyse it externally
- Confident presenting to and winning buy-in from customer executives, general managers, and boards; comfortable navigating competing agendas
- Comfortable with technology and able to pick up new tools quickly, including AI tools in your own workflow
- Able to analyse data independently and make decisions from findings
- Comfortable operating without a fixed playbook
- Excited about using AI in day-to-day work to 10x output
- Bonus: retail or workforce-management background with transferable concepts to hospitality
- Bonus: commercial finance background with credibility in front of operators
