Okta is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the Okta Recovery Vault (ORV) user interface—a critical enterprise-grade capability that protects against accidental or malicious deletion of identity objects. This role is central to Okta's "Land big, grow fast" strategy.
You will own the end-to-end development of a highly intuitive self-service recovery UI that empowers administrators to perform complex operations with confidence. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead UI implementation for the Recovery Vault, ensuring seamless experience within the Okta Admin Console
• Build interactive interfaces for granular and bulk recovery operations, including async job progress indicators and success notifications
• Develop data visualization components ("Captured" summary view) using status icons and tooltips to show recoverable credentials and relationships at a glance
• Create robust filtering and search components allowing admins to scope deletions by source (Admin UI, Automation, SCIM) and time-based presets (Last 24h, 3 days, 7 days)
• Implement interactive post-restore checklists and summary modals guiding admins through manual follow-up actions (MFA re-enrollment, API token reissuance)
• Partner with Lead Product Designers and Product Managers to define user journeys that reduce admin "panic" during critical deletion incidents
• Ensure UI responsiveness and performance when handling large datasets during bulk operations
• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end features using modern JavaScript and cloud-native technologies (React, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL)
• Lead technical design for key initiatives, driving quality, scalability, and maintainability
• Own services throughout their lifecycle—implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and incident response
Required: 8+ years building modern web applications in full-stack environments. Deep expertise in TypeScript, ReactJS, Node.js (Express or similar), Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka. Experience designing APIs and building robust services at scale in distributed, cloud-based architectures. Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes. Proven ability to deliver elegant, enterprise-grade user experiences by partnering with Product and Design teams in fast-paced, agile environments. Strong collaboration skills with architects and cross-functional teams. Passion for engineering craftsmanship (testing, monitoring, documentation, scalability). Excellent communication and technical leadership abilities. Growth mindset with interest in mentoring.
Nice to have: Experience building administrative dashboards or recovery-focused tools. Familiarity with Identity and Access Management concepts (Users, Groups, MFA, RBAC). Feature flag frameworks and gradual rollout strategies. Accessibility (A11y) standards for enterprise software. Observability platforms for monitoring UI performance and error rates.
Education: B.S. in Computer Science or related field.
