Anthropic's Corporate Systems team is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to lead the IT side of the company's M&A strategy. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on acquisitions: due diligence, integration planning, and post-close execution. You will own the technical IT assessment of acquired companies before close, evaluating their identity systems, applications, endpoints, and infrastructure to provide the deal team with a clear risk and effort analysis. You'll define comprehensive technical integration plans specifying what systems move, where they land, migration sequencing, day-one readiness requirements, and security gap remediation. Post-close, you'll execute these plans directly—administering systems, migrating people and devices, retiring legacy infrastructure, and coordinating with Security, Corporate Development, Legal, People, and Finance teams. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering: you'll hold admin access, write code, build automation, run cutover operations yourself, and bring in other IT Engineering teams as needed. Early focus will be on M&A work, including using Claude to automate repeatable diligence and integration tasks. As automation matures and M&A volume fluctuates, you'll contribute to broader Corporate Systems roadmap initiatives. Key responsibilities include leading technical IT due diligence assessments, identifying and rating security gaps, defining integration requirements and sequencing, executing migrations and system retirements, coordinating across multiple IT and business teams, communicating status to executives and legal teams, building repeatable M&A playbooks, and contributing to core systems projects during lighter M&A periods. The role is based in Boston with offices in San Francisco, Seattle, New York City, and Washington, DC. Travel is required. Hybrid work expected with minimum 25% office presence, though some roles may require more. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years as a hands-on engineer in corporate IT, with demonstrated experience designing and shipping systems, executing migrations or integrations, and owning at least one functional area end-to-end (identity, applications, endpoints, or infrastructure) - Experience administering enterprise identity and collaboration platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, SSO providers) and writing code in Python or similar against SaaS APIs - Working knowledge of endpoint management and security concepts sufficient to lead diligence on unfamiliar device fleets - Proven ability to quickly understand unfamiliar IT environments and deliver prioritized risk assessments to non-technical stakeholders - Track record leading technical projects spanning multiple teams with fixed deadlines while performing substantial engineering work - Comfort working autonomously with ambiguity and confidential information - Clear communication skills with executives, legal/corporate development teams, and engineers at acquired companies - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role STRONG CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE: - Prior M&A, carve-out, or company-to-company migration experience - Full-stack experience across endpoints, systems, applications, and infrastructure - Hands-on device fleet management or MDM experience - Experience working in or alongside security teams - Track record building tooling that replaces manual IT work - Experience using Claude or similar AI tools as a core part of workflow
