Lambda is a leader in AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers globally, from AI researchers to enterprises and hyperscalers. The Information Systems team is responsible for building and scaling the internal systems that power the business, partnering across Finance, GTM, Engineering, and People to implement tools, automate workflows, and ensure secure and accurate data flow.
In this role, you will design, write, and deliver software and services to improve the availability, scalability, reliability, and efficiency of Lambda's internal IT systems and platforms. You'll solve problems relating to mission-critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence, with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional events. You'll work closely with Lambda's Engineering team and internal stakeholders to influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
Key responsibilities include service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning. You'll be expected to be an excellent communicator, producing documentation and related artifacts for the systems you own.
You should have a keen interest in system design, architecting for performance and scalability, and experience with multiple cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.). You think carefully about systems—edge cases, failure modes, behaviors, and specific implementations. You know and prefer configuration management systems and toolchains (Chef, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions, etc.) and have solid programming skills in Python, Go, or similar languages. You collaborate and communicate asynchronously, document issues and solutions, and have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken, you fix it. You're driven to deliver quickly and effectively while iterating fast.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with ML/AI workloads and compute, practical experience implementing and managing paging, alerting, and on-call scheduling flows, and a positive attitude combined with a desire to learn and collaborate.
