Anthropic is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to own ChromeOS as a dedicated platform for the company's growing vendor and business process outsourcing (BPO) partner programs. The Endpoint team (Client Platform Engineering) manages Anthropic's device fleet as a distributed platform, treating configuration as code through pull requests, CI, staging, and canary deployments. Today the fleet is primarily macOS with growing mobile footprint; this role will establish ChromeOS as a fully supported platform and help bring Android as a second platform. You will own ChromeOS end-to-end at Anthropic, from device procurement and enrollment through lockdown, monitoring, and retirement. You'll define platform standards, make key architectural decisions, and work autonomously within a deliberately lean team. Key responsibilities include: - Own ChromeOS platform standards, Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise setup, organizational unit design, and policy - Manage ChromeOS policy as code through the Chrome Policy API, GAM, and Terraform in the config-as-code pipeline, ensuring changes are reviewed, tested, and progressively rolled out - Build zero-touch enrollment through resellers for international deployment across all regions where vendor partners operate - Collaborate with IT Operations and procurement on device buying, shipping, and international logistics - Design device models for vendor teams (kiosk, managed guest sessions, shared devices, assigned devices) and select appropriate configurations for each program - Lock devices down to work requirements: control copy/paste, downloads, printing, USB, apps, and extensions - Own device lifecycle management for vendor fleets from enrollment through wipe, lock, and retrieval - Feed ChromeOS device data into fleet telemetry, tracking check-ins, OS versions, and state drift - Partner with Corporate Security on hardware standards (Verified Access attestation, minimum AUE dates), device trust signals, and access decisions - Collaborate with Security on contractor access models and data loss prevention - Run data loss controls through Chrome Enterprise Premium - Support Android as a second platform, working with the corporate mobile program on Android Enterprise and zero-touch enrollment - Write runbooks for IT Operations and vendor partners to stand up new programs The team runs with high autonomy and treats IT engineering as requiring product engineering rigor. You'll communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences including vendor partners and document your work as a natural part of your workflow. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role. Required experience and skills: - Owned ChromeOS as a platform for a fleet of thousands of devices - Deep knowledge of Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise: OU design, device and user policy, enrollment, and reporting - Automated ChromeOS policy through Chrome Policy API or GAM - Run kiosk, managed guest, or shared device programs for frontline, contact center, or outsourced teams - Set up zero-touch enrollment with resellers and shipped devices across multiple countries - Worked with Android device management in mixed fleet environments - Excel at ambiguous problems touching multiple teams - Python and shell scripting - Google Admin SDK, Chrome Policy API, and GAM for automation - Android Enterprise management (working knowledge) - Querying live device state at fleet scale - GitOps and CI for configuration management - Endpoint security fundamentals Strong candidates may also have: - Managed device configuration as code (pull requests, CI, staged rollout) - Managed ChromeOS alongside macOS or mobile fleets - Used VDI or browser-based access for outsourced teams - Supported BPO or vendor programs through fast growth into new regions - Built automated, progressive rollout systems with telemetry-gated promotion - Used LLMs to automate operational work
