Klaviyo is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to join its global corporate IT team in Boston. The IT Systems team is responsible for SaaS systems administration, end-to-end lifecycle management, building automation, and engineering solutions for internal teams and the business.
In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain enterprise systems including identity management, endpoint management, and SaaS platforms that thousands of Klaviyos depend on. You'll contribute to projects ranging from SSO/SCIM implementations to multi-tool integrations and automations, with a focus on scalability and efficiency. You'll work closely with operations, engineering, and the IT support team to keep systems healthy and help resolve technical escalations.
Klaviyo is building an AI-first future, and IT is central to that vision. You will be expected to use AI in your day-to-day work to research, script, document, and troubleshoot faster, and to help bring AI-assisted workflows to the systems the company relies on. This is a hands-on, high-learning role for someone early in their systems career who wants to build depth quickly alongside senior engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own projects end-to-end from problem statement through rollout, documentation, and follow-up
- Ship changes quickly to systems thousands depend on, while testing thoroughly, getting peer review, and maintaining rollback plans
- Partner with stakeholders to build and improve tooling, integrations, and documentation
- Leave behind clean configurations, least-privilege access, and comprehensive runbooks and knowledge base articles
- Use ticket data, system telemetry, and adoption metrics to demonstrate impact
- Ramp on new platforms quickly using AI to accelerate learning and output
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation for site-specific or business-blocking issues
Requirements:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, systems administration, or systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience through apprenticeship, internship, help desk role, home lab, or certification-backed project work
- Working familiarity with admin side of core SaaS platforms such as Google Workspace, Jamf, Slack, Atlassian, and Zoom
- Experience with problem identification and ability to collaborate with stakeholders on solutions
- Foundational understanding of IT systems including enterprise device management, secure identity, and endpoint security
- Experience or familiarity with deploying and managing macOS and iOS devices through MDM (Jamf preferred), including configuration profiles and policies; exposure to Windows management (Intune and Autopilot) is a plus
- Interest in learning to automate workflows and repetitive tasks
- Experience with or willingness to learn IdP configuration, management, and maintenance, including SSO (SAML/OIDC) and SCIM provisioning; Okta or Entra ID (Azure AD) experience is a plus
- Understanding of importance of clean, concise controls and easily editable security functionality; willingness to support access reviews and audit evidence requests for SOC 2 and SOX
- AI proficiency: already use AI as part of daily work; comfortable with LLM assistants and agents (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Glean) for research, scripting, debugging, documentation, and repetitive work; can explain where AI accelerated you and where you applied judgment to verify output; curious about applying AI to IT problems
- Foundational scripting skills with interest in further development; Bash, PowerShell, or Python experience is a plus
- Familiarity with identity lifecycle (onboarding, role changes, offboarding) and why timely, accurate access matters
- Comfort reading API documentation and working with REST and JSON to connect systems; clear appetite to learn
- Disciplined approach to change: test before deployment, document changes, communicate clearly with affected parties
- Strong written communication and habit of documenting work
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with SSO and automation solutions such as Workato, Okta Workflows, n8n, or similar
- Basic understanding of enterprise-scale networking (routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN, corporate Wi-Fi)
- Experience in fast-paced, high-growth IT environment
- Interest in developing skills to build applications and tools utilizing APIs
- Familiarity with AWS and GCP concepts (VPC, EC2, Security Groups, ACLs, IAM)
- Experience building with AI beyond chat window (connecting LLM to systems via APIs or MCP, standing up AI-assisted workflows or agents that saved real time)
- Experience administering ITSM or ticketing platforms such as Freshservice or Jira Service Management
- Relevant certifications (Jamf 100/200, Okta Certified Professional, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud fundamentals)
