Charles IT is seeking an IT Project Engineer to join the Projects Team. This is a hands-on technical role combining project delivery with engineering expertise. You will lead technical implementations across client environments, manage project lifecycles from kickoff through post-go-live support, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
Key responsibilities include executing infrastructure upgrades, email migrations (to M365), server builds and migrations, network upgrades, hypervisor replacements (VMware/Hyper-V), and workstation lifecycle initiatives. You'll participate in project planning, deliver client-facing status updates, maintain detailed documentation, and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and co-managed environments. Daily activities involve hands-on technical work, time tracking in ConnectWise, weekly status check-ins, and identifying risks and blockers that impact delivery.
The role requires 3–5 years of experience in project or support divisions with strong reactive IT support background. You must independently handle email migrations, server builds, network upgrades, and hypervisor migrations. Additional experience with office moves, security stack deployments (MDR, SIEM), and application deployments (CRM, ERP) is valued. Required skills include exceptional documentation and communication, multitasking in fast-paced environments, attention to detail, and a valid US driver's license. Relevant certifications (MCSA, VCP, CCNA, MDM solutions) and a degree in a technology field are considered pluses.
Charles IT offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, paid holidays, PTO, 401(k), bonuses, free dry cleaning, fully stocked break room, Friday team lunches, paid training, and quarterly team-building outings.
