Salary: USD 124,000 - 155,000 / annual
Discord is seeking an IT Ops Engineer to join their IT operations team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the office.
You will serve as a modern IT generalist, keeping Discord's employee technology infrastructure running smoothly across devices, identity, network, SaaS platforms, collaboration tools, and endpoint security. This is a growth-oriented position where you'll build breadth across enterprise systems and develop deep expertise in specific domains over time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working the shared IT support queue alongside the team, providing hands-on support for employee technology needs
- Managing the full employee technology surface: device and endpoint setup (Jamf, Intune), identity and access management (Okta), SaaS access provisioning, and endpoint security tooling in partnership with Enterprise Security
- Maintaining reliability of conferencing and AV rooms, providing hands-on support for live events
- Running employee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure new hires are equipped on day one and departing employees are properly deprovisioned
- Owning well-scoped projects with increasing autonomy, converting repetitive manual work into automation
- Participating in on-call rotation schedules
You'll work in a collaborative environment focused on solving real operational challenges and building systems that scale with the company's growth.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on IT Helpdesk support experience
- Exposure to managing backend IT systems (Okta, Jamf, or similar) in high-growth tech companies
- Hands-on experience across multiple parts of the IT operations surface; breadth valued over depth at this level
- Genuine automation instinct: you reach for automation before runbooks and leverage AI to write scripts and glue code
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a systems-thinking approach
- Collaborative, low-ego mindset with secure-by-design posture
- Clear written communication and eagerness to grow across domains
Bonus qualifications:
- Exposure to SOC 2 or SOX access-review processes
- Background in high-growth consumer tech
