Salary: USD 180,000 - 230,000 / annual
Anthropic is hiring an IT Operations Engineer to develop and run a global asset management and hardware lifecycle program across offices in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, London, Dublin, and Sydney.
You will own the end-to-end hardware asset lifecycle: from procurement and receiving through inventory management, assignment, refresh cycles, collection, e-waste and secure disposal. You'll also run day-to-day operations for the corporate mobile program. This role requires program expertise—you'll take asset management from spreadsheets or ad-hoc processes to a mature, scalable system of record.
Key responsibilities include:
**Strategy & Tooling**: Develop the global asset management strategy and lifecycle model. Select, implement, and administer an asset management platform (such as Jira Assets or Snipe-IT), define its data model and integrations, and contribute to on-site processes across all offices. Support evaluation and onboarding of hardware lifecycle services vendors.
**Inventory & Assignment**: Establish and maintain an accurate inventory of record across all systems. Run audits of device locations and ownership, reconcile physical counts against the system, and manage demo, loaner, and travel device inventories through complex logistics.
**Procurement & Refresh**: Support hardware purchasing through reseller and vendor relationships. Build and advance a refresh calendar across offices. Reconcile purchase orders, deliveries, and invoices with Accounting and vendors.
**Collection, E-waste & Disposal**: Develop device collection and recovery workflows for offboarding, refresh swaps, and remote-employee returns. Build the e-waste program with certified recycling and secure disposal partners in each region, including data destruction records and chain-of-custody documentation. Handle equipment under legal hold.
**BPO & Contingent Fleet**: Provision, track, and recover device fleets for BPO partners. Serve as the day-to-day hardware contact for those vendors.
**Corporate Mobile**: Run day-to-day operations for the corporate mobile program, manage deployment and break-fix, and maintain carrier relationships.
**Automation**: Identify repetitive work and automate it using available tools—scripts, systems integrations, and AI tools.
You'll partner with IT Hardware Ops (procurement, fleet logistics, onboarding/offboarding, storage), the Endpoint pod (MDM, device policy), Finance (budget and contracts), and IT Support.
**Requirements**
You should have:
- Implemented (not just run) an asset management and lifecycle program for a multi-office fleet, taking it from spreadsheets or nothing to a system of record with defined processes for procurement, inventory, assignment, refresh, collection, and disposal—ideally in a fast-paced or high-growth environment
- Selected or implemented an asset management platform such as Jira Assets or Snipe-IT, and developed the data model
- Run an e-waste or secure disposal program with certified partners and chain-of-custody records
- Managed reseller or vendor relationships for hardware purchasing and asset disposal
- Strong documentation skills: runbooks, how-to guides, knowledge base articles
- Ability to recognize when requests exceed this role's scope and route platform work to IT Engineering, policy to the Endpoint pod, and budget to Finance
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role
Strong candidates may also have:
- Experience supporting a corporate mobile program or carrier account
- Basic scripting experience (Bash or Python) for inventory or reporting automation
- Experience using AI tools to improve personal or team productivity
- Hands-on asset contact experience for ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audits (pulling extracts, producing disposal certificates, evidence of returned assets)
Anthropus expects all staff to be in one of its offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more. Visa sponsorship is available.
