Salary: USD 180,000 - 260,000 / annual

General Matter is a mission-driven nuclear energy company backed by top-tier investors, focused on strengthening America's capacity in nuclear fuel production. The company applies first-principles engineering to solve critical national energy security challenges. You will serve as IT Manager overseeing the company's IT systems and infrastructure at the growing Paducah, Kentucky site. In this role, you will work closely with General Matter's engineering teams to gather requirements, research, evaluate, design, plan, deploy, and support Microsoft enterprise software platforms and related technologies. You will manage and maintain highly resilient, high-performance, scalable, and flexible systems that support demanding engineering operations. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and implementing IT infrastructure improvements using accepted change control methodology - Ensuring uptime and health of critical IT core infrastructure systems - Driving security and performance optimizations across the infrastructure - Building automation at scale to improve overall efficiency - Defining, documenting, and following standards and best practices for systems design, testing, and implementation - Working across diverse internal business units to design creative solutions and resolve problems proactively - Managing highly resilient systems in a mission-critical environment You will exercise a high degree of responsibility for the processes, systems, and tools you create and manage, supporting the company's goal of ensuring the country has the fuel needed to power its nuclear reactors. The role requires flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency. **Requirements:** - Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering discipline with 3+ years of systems administration experience; OR 5+ years of professional systems administration experience in lieu of a degree - 5+ years of experience with Active Directory, Kerberos, Entra ID, and multi-platform authentication/identification environments - 5+ years of experience with Windows-based systems and services in both physical and virtual environments (setup, configure, upgrade, manage, troubleshoot) - 5+ years of experience monitoring mission-critical enterprise environments - Experience with servers in physical and virtualized environments - Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary **Preferred Skills:** - Expertise in creating repeatable, reliable, scalable systems architectures with high availability, fault tolerance, performance tuning, and monitoring - Web, Python, PowerShell, and bash scripting development experience - Linux administration experience - Automation platforms (Ansible, Salt, Chef) - Networking experience (IPv4, IPSEC VPN, SSL-VPN, SD-WAN, switching, routing, firewalls, HA architecture) - Comfort working with mission-critical and sensitive systems - Excellent communication skills with internal/external customers, vendors, and management
