OpenAI's Employee Technology & Experience team is seeking an IT Logistics Lead to manage the team responsible for keeping OpenAI employees equipped with the hardware and peripherals they need to do their best work.
You will own the full IT logistics operation, including hardware and peripheral catalog management, fulfillment programs, asset management systems, and regional operating models. Your core mission is to deliver on four commitments: equipment ready on day 1 globally, choices suited to each employee's location and work, self-service employees trust, and accurate records of inventory and asset location.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the hardware and peripheral catalog, ensuring new equipment options are validated, configured and ready for deployment as employee needs evolve.
- Delivering day 1 readiness globally with location-appropriate equipment, managing fulfillment, refreshes, replacements, loaners, telecom, mobility services and high-risk travel support as the company expands.
- Scaling the employee IT vending machine program and other self-service channels, ensuring high availability, appropriate inventory and controlled shrinkage.
- Maintaining 100% accurate asset records across the full lifecycle, with complete chain of custody from receipt through recovery, reuse and secure disposition.
- Owning forecasting, capacity planning and logistics performance metrics to improve accuracy, shorten lead times and maintain availability while controlling costs and reducing waste.
- Using OpenAI products (including Codex and agents) as customer zero to solve previously unresolved logistics problems, with appropriate evaluation, security and human oversight.
- Managing and developing team members to build skills, ownership and delivery excellence.
- Scaling service globally with accountable regional partners and repeatable operations that meet local needs while maintaining consistency.
- Ensuring reliable daily operations with clear escalation resolution and aligned commitments across engineering, security, support, workplace, finance and procurement.
This is a hands-on people management role where you will coach team members, manage performance, and work alongside them on execution and escalations. You'll set priorities and plan capacity with your manager, and continuously improve accuracy and lead times.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience leading inventory and fulfillment operations across multiple sites or regions, with ownership of forecasting, delivery partners, service performance and cost. Must show sustained improvements in accuracy, reconciliation, shrinkage, availability and lead times.
- Track record delivering automation and AI-enabled workflows in daily operations, including solutions to previously unresolved problems. Must be able to articulate contributions, measurable results, reliability testing, security controls and human oversight.
- Experience managing people through rising demand and changing priorities, with responsibility for goals, feedback, performance and development. Demonstrated coaching that helped individuals build skills, take ownership and improve work quality.
- Experience launching services that met employee or customer needs, balancing usability, cost, security and control. Must align partners, make sound technical and business decisions, communicate candidly and own adoption and results.
