Apex manufactures satellite buses (spacecraft platforms) at scale for the commercial space industry, combining software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing. The company enables earth observation, communications, and other space-based applications.
The IT Engineer will design, implement, administer, and optimize Apex's technology infrastructure, serving as a hands-on systems and infrastructure engineer rather than a support role. This position requires deep technical expertise across multiple domains.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, configure, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers, cloud infrastructure, and endpoints across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux environments
- Manage enterprise networking including LAN, WAN, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, routing, switching, and firewalls
- Administer Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Entra ID, Intune, Jira/Confluence, and Slack
- Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and AWS (including GovCloud)
- Develop automation and administrative scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and Python
- Lead or participate in IT infrastructure projects and provide Tier 3 technical support
- Document configurations, procedures, and solutions
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5–7 years of progressive hands-on experience in IT engineering, systems administration, or network engineering
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems, server deployment, and networking protocols
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, and Python
- US Citizenship and active TS/SCI Security Clearance (required)
- Full-time on-site work in Playa Vista, Los Angeles
