Factbird helps manufacturers extract actionable insights from production line data through plug-and-play hardware and cloud platform technology. The company is scaling rapidly across sites, teams, and countries. You will join Engineering Services as a Senior IoT Solutions Engineer, a team that solves the hardest technical problems that fall outside standard product and support scope. You'll be the technical expert who answers feasibility questions from Sales ("Can we connect this machine, PLC, or sensor?"), designs and builds custom solutions, and troubleshoots cross-domain problems that no other team can place. Key responsibilities include: • Answer pre-sales feasibility questions from Account Executives and Solution Consultants, often working directly with customers and their technical teams to test complex setups. • Design and build custom solutions: logic boxes, signal converters, IO-Link modules, EDGE flows, and Factbird-powered OMRON NX1 programs that fill gaps the cloud platform cannot yet handle. • Design integrations by mapping customer OT/IT environments, planning data sources, tag structures, transformations, and security architecture. • Perform root cause troubleshooting in live production environments—high-stakes work with smaller time allocation. • Document all builds and fixes thoroughly: Solution Records, runbooks, wiring guides, and configuration backups for both customers and internal teams. • Bench-test hardware before shipment, validate full data flows end-to-end (including failure recovery and restarts), and hand off to Logistics with clear packing lists. • Integrate customer systems through Kepware, Ignition, OPC UA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and Node-RED. • Share knowledge with Support, Solution Consultants, and Hardware teams to empower them to handle more independently. • Identify and streamline repeat work and clunky processes; build templates and scripts to accelerate future deliveries. • Convert repeat workarounds into product input with business cases so workarounds can be eliminated. • Join customer and prospect calls as the technical voice alongside Solution Consultants and Account Managers. You are an experienced industrial automation engineer comfortable with both hands-on work and technical problem-solving. You know how factories operate and can articulate non-obvious solutions. You document meticulously because others depend on it. You are self-directed, take ownership, and troubleshoot systematically in ambiguous situations. You thrive on being the expert while equally enjoying teaching others and making teams smarter. You prioritize clarity and simplicity in your answers. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent hands-on experience. • Minimum 5 years in industrial automation or controls engineering with hands-on shop floor work (7+ years preferred). • Hands-on PLC experience with at least one major vendor (Siemens, Omron, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley). • Solid understanding of industrial protocols: OPC UA, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MQTT. • Working knowledge of sensors and signals: digital, analog (4–20 mA, 0–10 V), IO-Link, PNP/NPN, energy metering. • Root cause analysis capability across hardware, networks, and software in live production. • Field experience commissioning or troubleshooting equipment in live plants. • Comfortable troubleshooting site networks: IP setup, routers, SIMs, firewalls. • Clear English communication skills; ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-engineers. • Strong documentation discipline: you write down what you build. Note: This role is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and requires relocation. The company will support your move for the right candidate. Eligibility for a Danish work permit is required.
