True Anomaly is a defense and aerospace company building autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors to secure the space environment and counter threats. The company is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to report to the Chief People Officer and own the strategy, voice, and operating rhythm of internal communications across a fast-growing team of engineers, operators, and builders working on national security space initiatives. This is a builder role focused on creating channels, cadences, and standards that keep a scaling company aligned and connected. You will partner closely with executives to translate strategy, program milestones, and organizational change into clear, candid, and engaging communications. The ideal candidate is a sharp writer and trusted advisor with a passion for storytelling, strong ownership from idea to execution, sound judgment in a security-conscious environment, and deep commitment to culture. Key responsibilities include: building and owning the internal communications strategy and editorial calendar; advising the Chief People Officer, CEO, and executive team on communication gaps and opportunities; planning and producing all-hands meetings, lunch-and-learns, and leadership forums; leading change communications for company-wide initiatives and equipping managers with context and toolkits; owning and scaling the intranet and internal channels (Slack, SharePoint, Confluence, email); telling stories behind the company's work and celebrating mission wins and team achievements; partnering with People, Talent, and Total Rewards on onboarding, benefits, performance cycles, and engagement communications; ensuring consistency between internal and external messaging with Marketing; working with Security, Legal, and Program teams to meet ITAR, classification, and information-handling requirements; using AI tools thoughtfully to scale communications within security constraints; defining measurement frameworks for communications and change efforts; and creating voice, tone, and style guidelines and templates. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications, ideally in high-growth technology, aerospace, or defense environments. Exceptional writing and editing skills to translate complex technical or strategic information into clear, compelling messages for varied audiences. Proven experience advising and writing for senior executives with confidence to push back constructively. Track record of building communication programs, channels, or cadences from the ground up. Experience leading communications and supporting change management through organizational change, rapid growth, or sensitive situations. Strong project management skills and high degree of ownership with ability to run multiple long-term projects with distinct timelines. Proficiency with modern collaboration and content tools (Slack, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Confluence) plus comfort with basic design or video tools. Data-informed mindset using metrics and feedback to measure impact. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Passion for culture and connecting people to meaningful missions. Ability to share writing samples and examples of past internal communications campaigns, events, or leadership content. Willingness to travel to True Anomaly locations as needed. Preferred qualifications: Experience in aerospace, defense, government contracting, or national security. Experience communicating in export-controlled (ITAR) or classified environments. Practical experience using AI tools to draft, produce, personalize, or scale communications. Experience building employee communications across multiple locations or business units. Experience producing video, podcast, or multimedia content for internal audiences. Experience coordinating with external agencies, freelancers, or vendors. Familiarity with employee engagement survey tools and communication analytics. The role requires candidates to be located near Denver or Colorado Springs, with a hybrid work environment where some work must be done on site. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State due to ITAR compliance.
