GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Fullstack Engineer to join the Growth team, focusing on converting users into paying customers through the self-serve funnel. You'll work on the in-product journey from first visit through sign-up, trial, and first purchase on both GitLab.com and self-managed GitLab, combining fullstack engineering with product thinking and experimentation.
In this role, you will design, build, and iterate on A/B tests and experiments to increase first purchases; build and improve registration, trial, onboarding, and in-product upgrade experiences; implement backend features in Ruby on Rails and frontend experiences in Vue.js; analyze experiment results with Data Analysts to decide which changes to keep, iterate on, or roll back; collaborate with Product Managers and UX Designers to define hypotheses and success metrics; maintain and improve the experimentation framework and tooling; coordinate with other Engineering teams like Fulfillment to remove purchase barriers; and document decisions and share results asynchronously across distributed teams.
The Growth team works fully remotely and asynchronously across multiple regions, guided by GitLab's values of transparency and iteration. You'll have the opportunity to ship small changes quickly and measure their impact on real customer outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional experience developing with Ruby on Rails and modern JavaScript, with solid Git, feature development, and deployment workflows
- Experience working with relational databases and solid understanding of web performance optimization
- Track record of shipping features to production and owning them after release
- Ability to use product data to decide what to build, keep, or roll back
- Ability to document decisions and share updates asynchronously with distributed Product Management, UX, and Data teammates
- Ability to organize work, seek and apply feedback, and collaborate inclusively with teammates from diverse backgrounds
- Preferred (not required): experience with Vue.js, PostgreSQL, A/B testing, feature flags, experimentation frameworks, or SaaS sign-up, trial, billing, or checkout flows
