Plaid is seeking an Integrations Operations Engineer to join the team responsible for maintaining and expanding connectivity across 12,000 financial institutions in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product expertise, and direct relationships with financial institution partners. You will investigate and resolve high-impact integration issues by writing maintainable, tested code and deploying to production, then monitoring for regressions. The team uses a business-value-based prioritization model to automatically score incoming issues by customer impact. You'll understand this model, scope individual issues' impact across affected clients and users, and help refine the prioritization approach over time. Key responsibilities include: diagnosing integration problems and escalating to Data Partners (financial institutions and platforms) when needed, working alongside the internal Data Partner Relationships team to drive resolution; applying mitigation techniques to keep integration traffic flowing through tooling, configuration changes, and external outreach; giving and receiving code reviews as a codebase owner; handling escalations from internal teams with appropriate prioritization; meeting best-effort SLAs on business-critical issues; maintaining the integrations issue backlog through triage and auditing; occasionally building new integrations with financial institutions when impact justifies it; and rotating through the team's on-call schedule to maintain uptime. You should have 1.5+ years in a highly technical role (software engineering, technical support engineering, or similar), with experience developing web services, APIs, and integrations. Strong troubleshooting and debugging instincts are essential—you enjoy investigating complex issues and driving them to root cause. A customer-first attitude and empathy for how issues affect customers is critical. You're analytical and data-oriented, comfortable slicing data with SQL or similar tools to scope impact and prioritize work. Excellent written and verbal communication is required to explain technical problems to both internal engineering teams and external data partners. Experience with TypeScript, NodeJS, SQL, and/or Golang is valued. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of resolving high volumes of technical issues with both quality and speed, and a history of identifying and improving processes to increase efficiency.
