Rocket Lab is seeking an Integration & Test Engineer I or II to support the Space Systems organization at their Long Beach headquarters. This role is responsible for the development, test, and deployment of flight spacecraft systems, as well as the development, maintenance, and upgrading of test systems for that hardware.
Key responsibilities include leading and owning integration and test campaigns at various levels of spacecraft development, collaborating with team members to define systems requirements and verification/validation plans, and developing acceptance, qualification, and R&D test plans for spacecraft systems. You will develop, maintain, and operate environmental test systems including vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal, and EMI testing. Additional duties include developing and maintaining mechanical and electrical ground support equipment and facilities, interfacing with ground test software and flight software configuration changes, leading investigations into anomalous vehicle behavior, and interfacing with hardware-in-the-loop test systems.
For the Engineer I level: Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, aerospace, or related engineering field required. Must have aerospace industry experience as a test engineer or in other hands-on engineering roles. Proficiency with C, C++, Python, or MATLAB is essential, along with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office. Experience writing technical documentation (procedures, reports, requirements) is required. US citizenship is required due to program requirements.
For the Engineer II level: Same educational and citizenship requirements, but with 2+ years of aerospace industry experience as a test engineer or in hands-on engineering roles.
Desirable qualifications include a Master's or PhD in engineering, experience with environmental testing (thermal vacuum, random vibration), 4+ years as a test engineer in aerospace, understanding of satellite subsystems (CDH, ADCS, EPS, COMM), cleanroom and ESD-sensitive equipment experience, and hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters).
