Xero is building a brand-new Integration team to power automation across the organization. In this role, you'll design and build workflows and integrations using modern low/no-code and AI-native platforms to solve real business problems and remove friction from internal operations.
You'll work across the full spectrum of integration work: collaborating with stakeholders to understand pain points, translating manual processes into robust automated designs, shipping end-to-end solutions to production, and owning them through monitoring and support. This is hands-on engineering work with measurable impact—solutions ship within weeks, not quarters.
Initially, you'll focus on ramping up existing platforms (SnapLogic, Tray) and establishing engineering standards including source control, observability, error handling, retries, and change control. You'll ship your first automations end-to-end from requirement through to a monitored, documented workflow in production. You'll build working relationships with business stakeholders, learning to elicit requirements and translate them into robust designs. You'll also contribute to quality reviews and participate in incident response and on-call practices.
The Integration team is brand-new within the Enterprise Technology function, which supports Xero's internal and customer-facing systems. There's real room to influence how the team works and potentially the tools you use. The team prioritizes open, transparent conversations where everyone is heard, rotates leadership and responsibility to keep learning distributed, and maintains shared ownership.
You'll need hands-on experience building workflows, integrations, or automations—whether through software engineering, integration platforms, or middleware tools. You should be comfortable using AI tools to solve logic problems and automate tasks, with a clear-eyed sense of when deterministic design is the right choice. You excel at eliciting requirements and bridging technical execution with business needs. You own work through to a monitored, documented, supportable state, shipping quality solutions rather than cutting corners. You have a growth mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and are motivated to take on increasingly complex work over time.
