Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building modular data centers powered by an energy-first approach. As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer II, you will design and validate the control systems that ship inside every modular data center unit Crusoe manufactures.
You will work alongside senior I&C engineers to develop point lists, instrument schedules, control system drawings, and I/O assignments that define the modular platform. Your work will be proven out on the factory floor through factory acceptance testing (FAT) before modules leave the building. This is a hands-on role that moves between the design desk and manufacturing floor, translating engineering standards into repeatable, verified deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing design deliverables (point lists, instrument schedules, I/O assignments, control system drawings) for modular data center systems under senior engineer direction
- Executing and documenting FAT protocols on control panels and integrated modules, including point-to-point verification, loop checks, and calibration confirmation
- Supporting manufacturing partners on the factory floor to resolve control panel build issues, wiring discrepancies, and instrument installation questions
- Contributing to repeatable design packages, drawing templates, and test procedures that enable platform scaling
- Coordinating with control panel fabricators, systems integrators, and instrument suppliers on submittals and specification compliance
- Conducting field walks, equipment inspections, and calibration verification at manufacturing and deployment sites
- Maintaining accurate as-built drawings, test records, and instrument documentation
You will be based in Denver with approximately 25% travel to manufacturing partners and deployment sites. This is a full-time position with close mentorship from experienced engineers, clear ownership of deliverables, and increasing independence as your judgment develops.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, including point list development, control system drawings, and field instrumentation
- Working familiarity with Rockwell and Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000 and ControlLogix or CompactLogix hardware
- Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA or comparable platform, including tag configuration, screen navigation, and basic troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to execute structured test procedures, document results accurately, and identify discrepancies
- Comfort working in active manufacturing and construction environments, including field walks, panel inspections, and instrument verification
- Track record of applying established engineering standards independently while escalating technical ambiguity early
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior work on data center mechanical or electrical control systems, or high-availability industrial environments
- Experience supporting productized or prefabricated equipment platforms with design repeatability focus
- Practical familiarity with Modbus TCP, BACnet, or OPC UA in multi-vendor integration contexts
- Relevant industry certifications (Rockwell, Inductive Automation, network certifications)
- Understanding of industrial network segmentation and OT security practices
- Genuine interest in energy and AI infrastructure
