Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit and advance commercial spaceflight. The Stennis Space Center team designs, builds, and operates world-class test stands for rocket engines and propulsion components at the largest rocket engine test complex in the country.
As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer II, you will design, integrate, and test acquisition hardware, instrumentation, and cameras that support and control the Terran R rocket test stands. Your responsibilities include working with Beckhoff PLCs and similar control systems, managing sensor integration (pressure, temperature, flow, level, accelerometers), solenoid valves, VFDs, and heaters. You will also work with IP, SDI, and CoaXPress cameras for test data capture.
You will design and maintain electrical systems for hazardous areas, ensuring safety and compliance with aerospace standards. This role involves hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams of engineers and technicians to support test execution and project delivery. You'll have the unique opportunity to work directly with fully integrated engine and stage assemblies, witness rocket engine tests, and contribute to critical milestones like those achieved with Terran 1.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in instrumentation, controls, or electrical engineering. You should have strong fundamentals in electrical engineering, proven ability to complete complex projects, and experience coordinating across teams to meet deadlines.
