Salary: USD 130,000 - 180,000 / annual
Cowboy Space Corp., founded in 2024 by Baiju Bhatt (Robinhood co-founder), is building orbital infrastructure to power and connect the space economy. The company operates satellites in Low Earth Orbit for on-orbit compute, space-to-earth and space-to-space energy transmission via infrared lasers, and secure optical data delivery.
As an Injector Design and Development Engineer, you will own rocket engine injectors end-to-end—from first-principles design and analysis through development, validation, and flight operation. You will drive rapid design-build-test cycles, blending analytical rigor with hands-on manufacturing and testing expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own injector hardware lifecycle from concept through flight, performing physics-based architecture trades and leading Thrust Chamber Assembly design
- Select manufacturing methods and lead builds, iterating designs across the full product lifecycle
- Plan and execute test campaigns from component-level through full-engine hotfire
- Analyze hotfire data and drive component redesigns to meet mission requirements
- Partner with vehicle and test-stand engineers to ensure engine compatibility with operational needs
You bring a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Space Systems, or equivalent engineering/applied physics discipline, with 5+ years of mechanical design for manufacturing and rapid prototyping. You have strong command of first-principles thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics, plus hands-on ownership of rocket engine injector lifecycles.
Preferred qualifications include multiple cradle-to-grave injector/TCA cycles, ANSYS (Mechanical, Fluent) and Thermal Desktop experience, first-principles fluid system sizing and injector performance optimization, design for additive manufacturing and traditional processes, and rocket engine hotfire test planning and analysis experience. An advanced degree is a plus.
The role is onsite in greater Seattle, WA. Compensation includes $130,000–$180,000 annually, equity, comprehensive benefits (medical/dental/vision), 401(k), PTO, 10 paid holidays, paid parental leave, relocation assistance, and daily office lunch. ITAR compliance required: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for State Department authorization.
