Lightspeed's Data Office is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to design and manage data models that drive financial performance, Go-To-Market (GTM), and product analytics decision-making across the organization. You will collaborate with Finance, Revenue Operations, Marketing, and Product teams to build the analytical foundations supporting the company's strategic initiatives.
In this role, you will design and develop data models powering financial reporting (GTV, MRR, revenue recognition), GTM analytics, and operational/product analyses. You'll architect scalable, maintainable solutions that deliver value incrementally while remaining pragmatic. You'll translate ambiguous business requirements from Finance, Revenue Operations, Marketing, and Product into well-defined technical solutions with realistic effort estimates.
You'll work within a Hub & Spoke architecture, collaborating with upstream data owners, downstream Looker/LookML developers, and domain teams (Retail, Hospitality, Operations) to design end-to-end data models. Documentation is a first-class deliverable—column descriptions, model contracts, and architecture documentation for both humans and AI/LLM-assisted workflows.
Key responsibilities include identifying root causes and implementing systemic solutions rather than point fixes, ensuring end-to-end data pipeline health through proactive monitoring and incident management, managing sprint commitments autonomously, and mentoring junior engineers through code reviews and technical sessions while establishing team quality standards.
You bring advanced SQL expertise (performance optimization, clean code, window functions), demonstrated experience designing enterprise-level dimensional models on modern cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake), and practical experience modeling SaaS/CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce, NetSuite). You have proven expertise with Dataform or dbt in production, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and strong security/compliance sensitivity (GDPR, SOX, data access controls).
Bonus skills include CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions), Python or JavaScript, LookML, data contracts, AI/LLM-assisted tools, and financial/revenue domain knowledge (ARR, MRR, NetSuite).
You'll enjoy true autonomy owning reference data models used by company leadership, a modern, well-maintained tech stack (Dataform, BigQuery, Looker, GitHub Actions), experienced colleagues who value quality, and direct visibility into impact with the CFO, GTM, and Product teams. This is an opportunity to join a growing Data organization within a public company headquartered in Montreal.
