Writer is an enterprise generative AI platform trusted by leading companies like Mars, Marriott, Uber, and Vanguard to build and deploy AI agents grounded in their data. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the platform's availability, performance, and reliability 24/7, directly impacting hundreds of enterprise customers.
You'll work across the full infrastructure stack—SRE, DevOps, infrastructure, and platform engineering—with deep focus on one substantial initiative at a time rather than constant context-switching. Your work spans AWS (preferred), GCP, and Azure, with fluency in Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and supporting cloud tooling. You'll automate operational tasks using Python or Go, eliminate manual toil, and design scalable, fault-tolerant systems that support Writer's high-traffic platform.
A core part of this role is integrating AI agents (Claude Code, Droid, Codex, internal skills) into your daily workflow—using them to investigate incidents, draft infrastructure changes, write runbooks, and review PRs. You'll build agentic setups as a collective surface where humans and digital teammates work as one, encoding recurring tasks as internal skills that compound team throughput.
You'll own end-to-end reliability and performance of core services, defining and upholding SLOs, carrying the on-call pager, and standing behind outcome metrics. You'll balance this week's critical work with 6–12-month platform direction, collaborating cross-functionally with product, security, and engineering peers to guide system design from conception through launch.
You'll lead incident response, post-mortems, and root-cause analyses, tracing failures to underlying problems and preventing recurrence. This role requires challenging the status quo, proactively identifying systemic weaknesses, and proposing innovative solutions grounded in first-principles reasoning about constraints and failure modes.
