Thought Machine is building modern banking infrastructure to replace legacy systems at banks worldwide. The company has raised over £500m from top-tier investors including JPMorgan Chase, Standard Chartered, and Temasek, and operates offices across London, New York, Singapore, Sydney, and Lisbon.
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in deploying and maintaining cutting-edge software that powers banking operations. You'll work on building automation and tooling that enables Thought Machine engineers and bank SREs to operate and integrate with Vault, the company's core banking platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the engineering team in building reliable, scalable applications
- Designing and building tools to make services scalable and highly available, with a focus on automation
- Developing observability and orchestration tooling to allow customers to monitor and manage their deployments
- Contributing to disaster recovery, backup, and redundancy tooling and strategy
- Improving codebase quality through new tools and processes
This is a full-time, permanent position based in the Lisbon office, requiring four days per week onsite.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience
- Production-ready infrastructure management tooling development with Python or Golang
- Familiarity with at least one of: Observability Tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana), Databases (Postgres, DuckDB), Event Streaming platforms (Kafka), or Container Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, GitHub Actions)
Desirable:
- Experience supporting production systems in high-consistency transactional environments
