Opto is building the future of private markets infrastructure, serving wealth managers, family offices, and private banks. The company is modernizing an industry forecast to grow to $30T by 2029, replacing manual processes and spreadsheets with a comprehensive technology platform. As Principal AWS Infrastructure Engineer, you will own the technical strategy and hands-on execution of Opto's AWS foundation. This is a high-leverage individual contributor role requiring deep expertise in Kubernetes at scale, multi-account architecture design, and infrastructure-as-code governance. Key responsibilities include: - Owning Kubernetes/EKS lifecycle management, including independent planning and execution of cluster upgrades - Inheriting, understanding, and improving Terraform-based infrastructure as code at scale - Supporting and evolving AWS enterprise networking setup and multi-account architecture - Partnering with Security, Compliance, and Data teams to ensure infrastructure meets audit and governance requirements (SOC2 / FedRAMP-adjacent standards) - Scaling infrastructure to support Opto's growth while maintaining reliability and security posture - Coordinating with business stakeholders on hosted infrastructure administration - Supporting broader platform reliability initiatives Required qualifications include 6+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles with staff-level or subject-matter-expert depth. You must have deep Kubernetes/EKS production experience, Terraform/IaC proficiency at scale, AWS cloud infrastructure expertise (enterprise networking, containers, multi-AZ), strong Linux systems and shell scripting skills, CI/CD and Git workflow experience, and compliance/security experience (SOC2, IAM, Okta, audit readiness). Excellent cross-functional communication and comfort in high-trust, interrupt-driven startup environments are essential. Bonus qualifications include familiarity with React/Next.js TypeScript, Python and Java REST APIs, Snowflake, Datadog, experience in regulated industries (fintech, wealth management, banking, healthcare), and ISO 27001 knowledge. The role is based in New York or San Francisco with remote flexibility. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not available.
