As InfoSec Manager, you will own Forus' end-to-end infrastructure, security posture, and systems that enable the team and protect the organization. This is a hands-on role combining tactical implementation with strategic program building. You will implement systems, troubleshoot issues, make architecture decisions on tooling and access, and tackle hard operational problems directly. You will also build security programs, manage vendor relationships, and ensure infrastructure and compliance architecture scale with the company.
InfoSec sits at the intersection of product engineering, operations, and security. You must enable a fast-moving team to ship quickly, work seamlessly with external vendors and contractors, navigate compliance and regulatory requirements, and build visibility into organizational software and systems. Work spans hands-on troubleshooting, project execution (migrations, system implementations), ongoing security and compliance programs, and vendor management.
Key responsibilities include: owning identity and access management, device management, cloud systems, and compliance end-to-end; implementing and managing core IT systems (SIEMs, shadow IT visibility) and making credible tool adoption decisions; managing external IT vendor relationships including contracting, feedback loops, and escalations; building and executing Forus' security program by identifying gaps, introducing new tools, and regulating permissions as the company scales; managing in-office IT operations (networking, A/V, device deployment, troubleshooting) while building systems to prevent bottlenecks; leading and automating onboarding/offboarding workflows; and working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, legal, and compliance to translate business and regulatory needs into technical architecture.
This is a demanding role with high autonomy and responsibility. You are expected to act like an owner and commit to Forus' success. The company operates as a high-trust environment with high autonomy, requiring full competence and alignment with principles: rigorous problem-solving, resourceful optimism, direct communication, high execution standards, and user-centric thinking.
Forus is based in New York with the full team working in-office in SoHo. All full-time roles are in-person.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in IT operations, infrastructure, or security roles with a track record of building systems and scaling organizations
- Track record of implementing medium-to-large IT systems (identity management, SIEM, access control platforms, or similar infrastructure-scale work)
- Hands-on experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you wore multiple hats and built IT practices from the ground up, not just maintained them
- Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly cross-functionally with people, engineering, operations, legal, and compliance; you understand what each team needs and translate between them fluently
- Experience managing employees at scale, including facilitating smooth on/offboarding workflows and thinking systematically about identity and access as the team grows
- High agency and ownership mentality; you see problems and solve them rather than escalate, and drive outcomes even when they span multiple teams or vendors
- Strong written and verbal communication for effective participation in internal debates and external vendor relationships
- Track record of moving quickly, finding shortcuts, and going to unreasonable lengths to deliver on goals
