Loft Orbital is seeking an Information Systems Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain centralized data infrastructure supporting the company's rapid growth in space infrastructure and satellite operations.
In this role, you will own the design and maintenance of a SQL Server database and data model that integrates Loft's business systems. You'll develop and operate Python/SQL ETL pipelines pulling data from NetSuite, Arena, ION, Jira, and other sources, with infrastructure managed in GitLab using CI/CD practices. You'll create Power BI dashboards and reports that monitor operational performance and KPIs across the organization.
You'll also develop and support NetSuite customizations, including SuiteScripts, workflows, and saved searches. Working cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Engineering, and IT teams, you'll gather requirements and deliver integrations and tools that solve real business problems. You'll be responsible for documenting systems and data flows, promoting data quality and governance, and implementing change control processes.
Loft is a fast-growing aerospace company founded in 2017, providing governments, companies, and research institutions with end-to-end satellite missions as a service. With over 30 missions flown and a fleet scaling to 30 satellites by 2027, the company operates across San Francisco, Golden, and Toulouse.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, business systems, or a related technical role
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data processing
- Hands-on experience with GitLab and CI/CD processes
- Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational database design and management
- Clear communicator who can translate business needs into technical solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience
NICE TO HAVES:
- NetSuite SuiteScript and workflow development
- NetSuite saved searches, SuiteQL, or SuiteAnalytics
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Power BI (data modeling, DAX)
- Experience with PLM, MES, or Jira data
- Experience applying AI/LLM tools to data or systems work
