Pico is a global financial services infrastructure company providing market data and managed solutions to the capital markets community. They operate offices across New York, Chicago, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
The Information Security Engineer role reports to the Chief Information Security Officer and is responsible for designing, protecting, and managing security services across Pico's global infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical position focused on security engineering, policy enforcement, and incident response.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implementation, and operation of security controls and systems (firewalls, IDS, IAM, SIEM)
- Engineering and tuning cloud security solutions (AWS, GCP) including monitoring, alerting, and security posture management
- Technical design of security solutions based on business requirements and use cases
- Proof-of-concept evaluations and technology assessments with recommendations
- Proactive threat assessment and emerging technology evaluation
- Automation of threat intelligence and sensor enrichment to reduce detection and remediation time
- Development and review of security standards, practices, and compliance frameworks
- Configuration and architecture reviews to verify compliance with security standards
- Research and resolution of IT security compliance issues
- Development of security metrics and KPIs
- Subject matter expertise across all security-related areas
The role requires excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Detail-oriented, customer-focused, and team-oriented approach is essential. The role involves understanding business drivers while navigating technical complexity.
This is a hybrid position with weekly office time in Belfast and flexibility to work from home. Travel may be required occasionally (not regular or frequent). The role spans multiple time zones (EMEA, USA, APAC) and may require flexible working hours accordingly.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7+ years of IT experience in Information Security
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Technical expertise in: Firewall and Intrusion Detection technologies, TCP/IP networking, Linux security, risk and vulnerability assessments (network, host, application), SIEM, Fortinet, Firepower IDS, AWS/GCP cloud platforms
- Scripting languages and command-line interfaces (beneficial)
- Strong understanding of information security engineering processes, architecture methodologies, industry best practices, and governance models (SANS, GIAC, COBIT, NIST)
- Ability to evaluate technical security controls and make management recommendations
- Certifications desirable: Cloud security certifications, CCNA, CISSP
- SOC, ISO, and attestation/certification review experience (a plus)
