Salary: USD 130,000 - 143,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, seeks an Industrial Security Specialist / Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to join its Security team in Mountain View, CA. Reporting to the Senior Security Manager, this hands-on individual contributor role executes day-to-day security operations supporting DoD and Intelligence Community programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute AFSO duties supporting the DoD Facility Clearance, including personnel security actions, visit requests, and DCSA/USG customer interfacing
- Administer the personnel security program: process clearance actions in DISS, conduct security briefings/debriefings, and maintain personnel security records
- Support Program Protection activities for secure payload processing, operations facilities, and program infrastructure
- Contribute to the Insider Threat Program, including monitoring, reporting, and supporting investigations
- Deliver security education and training (initial indoctrinations, annual refreshers, foreign travel briefings, OPSEC, CI awareness, derivative classification)
- Draft, maintain, and enforce Standard Practice Procedures, Emergency Action Plans, and program-specific security guidance for classified information, CUI, and proprietary materials
- Review and track DD-254s for classified contracts and subcontracts
- Support self-inspection programs and prepare for DCSA security reviews and assessments
- Operate and maintain facility badging systems, physical access controls, alarm systems, and visitor management
- Support COMSEC accountability and safeguarding activities
The role requires deep technical expertise across industrial security disciplines (PHYSEC, PERSEC, OPSEC, Counterintelligence, Insider Threat, Program Security) and ensures compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and applicable Intelligence Community Directives. This is a fully onsite position requiring five days per week in the Mountain View office.
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
- Bachelor's degree OR 4+ years of direct industrial security experience
- 3+ years of security-related experience supporting DoD and/or IC programs, with working knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), ISLs, ICDs, and OPSEC principles
- Hands-on experience with DISS and NISS; familiarity with Central Office of Record processes and classification management
- Demonstrated experience across core industrial security functions (PHYSEC, PERSEC, OPSEC, Counterintelligence, Insider Threat, Program Security), including Collateral, SCI, and/or Special Access Program (SAP) security requirements
- FSO certification (or ability to complete FSO curriculum within 90 days of hire)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and thrive in fast-paced environment
Nice-to-have: Industrial Security Professional (ISP) certification, ICD 705-compliant SCIF/DCSA Form 147 experience, COMSEC custodian certification, participation in industry security organizations (NCMS, NDIA, ASIS, InfraGard, INSA).
