Anduril Industries is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join its Quonset, Rhode Island manufacturing facility. This role operates within the technical shared services organization (3SI) with a dual mandate: serve as a flexible resource for production lines to optimize their manufacturing operations, and hold a standing factory-level responsibility for site-wide factory layouts, material flow optimization, and cross-functional technical projects.
You will deliver core Industrial Engineering standards and capabilities including capacity planning, labor standards, time studies, workstation and line layouts, and discrete event simulation (DES). You'll deploy across production lines as a shared resource, partnering with Manufacturing leads to scope work, deliver solutions, and hand off cleanly. You'll own site-level factory layout and material flow, planning and maintaining the master floor layout as programs scale and new capabilities come online.
Key responsibilities include specifying and justifying capital equipment and tooling, defining requirements, owning business cases and capex justification, and supporting vendor selection through production readiness. You'll lead cross-functional technical projects on behalf of 3SI, scoping, scheduling, and driving site infrastructure, equipment, and process-improvement initiatives. You'll own operations health metrics and KPIs, building tools and reports that communicate line and site health across the organization. You'll identify bottlenecks and constraints across layout, part shortages, staffing, and tooling, then drive resolution with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on bringing order to a fast-scaling production floor and can hold both single-line detail and whole-factory perspective simultaneously. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Business Operations, and Factory Services teams to get complex undersea hardware built and shipped to specification.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in a rate manufacturing environment and production-type role where complex mechanical and/or electrical assemblies were built
- Experience using real operational data to make informed suggestions and decisions
- Demonstrated skills with AutoCAD
- Proven line/facility design experience: value stream mapping, continuous/one-piece flow, and workstation design
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation
- Ability to read technical documentation (drawings, vendor schematics, CAD) and understand hardware processes across electronics and mechanical structures
- Understanding of material flow around a facility including pull systems, triggers, Kanban, and MIN MAX calculations
- Experience modeling operations using discrete event simulation (DES)
- Working knowledge of an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and an ERP system (Oracle or equivalent)
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering
- Hands-on design of tooling, fixtures, or GSE (ground support equipment) for heavy or large-format hardware
- Data analytics knowledge and experience including SQL for complex custom queries, mining and joining tables from production and supply chain databases (Palantir Foundry experience a plus)
- Experience creating and owning program, project, or production schedules
- Experience with Simio and/or Siemens Plant Simulation
- Experience in a marine, subsea, or other regulated/harsh-environment hardware program
