Benchling is an AI platform for biotech R&D used by over 200,000 scientists globally, including major biopharma companies like Sanofi and Moderna. The Implementation Manager role is part of a world-class Professional Services team driving customer implementations across the rapidly expanding customer base.
You will manage initial rollouts for new Benchling customers and expansion projects with existing customers, owning implementation success from project kickoff through go-live. This involves leveraging scientific background, project management skills, and product expertise to work with research scientists and internal teams.
Key responsibilities include: managing customer rollouts and expansion projects; owning implementation success with strong project management and scientific expertise; building and executing detailed project plans with on-time, on-budget, high-quality deployments; understanding customers' scientific workflows and determining how Benchling best meets their business needs; leading requirements and design workshops, performing data modeling and application configuration, developing test plans, and guiding UAT execution; training and onboarding users; acting as a trusted advisor guiding customers through implementation and Benchling best practices; documenting customer pain points and advocating internally for product improvements; and identifying expansion opportunities post go-live.
Required qualifications: MS or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, Biological Engineering, or related field; at least 2 years of lab or R&D experience, ideally in antibody discovery, strain engineering, or process development; software implementation experience, preferably with SaaS; strong communication skills across scientists, IT leads, and executives; self-starter mentality suited to startup environments; curious, creative, and tenacious approach to collaboration; ability to travel up to 25%; Benchling experience (especially as administrator) preferred but not required.
