OpenGov is the leader in AI and ERP solutions for local and state governments in the U.S. The Implementation Engineer II partners with government customers to deploy OpenGov cloud software, owning the most complex product configurations and data migrations across a portfolio of implementations.
In this role, you will lead requirements validation, configuration and data reviews, platform configuration and testing, data migration and reconciliation, and user enablement, guiding customers through the full deployment journey from kickoff to go-live while setting the technical quality bar for the team. You will act as a trusted advisor with deep product knowledge and advanced data and database expertise, understanding each customer's goals, pain points, and workflows, and translating them into scalable, maintainable solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead data migration, configuration, and testing of OpenGov cloud software for complex government implementations across the United States
- Perform configuration reviews across the team, validating that platform setup aligns with documented requirements, product best practices, and long-term maintainability
- Perform data reviews, validating migrated data for completeness, accuracy, and integrity, and reconciling source-to-target data
- Own complex customer data migration end to end, including database schema mapping, ETL tool configuration, and scripting
- Confirm and pressure-test customer requirements across both configuration and data, resolving ambiguity and advising on optimal solution design
- Design and execute comprehensive test scenarios that validate configuration and migrated data produce accurate outcomes prior to go-live
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government stakeholders like Budget Directors, IT personnel, and decision-makers
- Identify recurring customer pain points and partner with cross-functional teams to simplify, enhance, and automate processes
- Define and improve implementation standards, templates, playbooks, and reusable tooling
- Partner with Project Management, Customer Success Management, Data/Integration, and Product teams to ensure consistent customer experience
Requirements:
- 3 to 6 years of experience in software implementation, data migration, or technical consulting, ideally with enterprise or SaaS products
- 3+ years of hands-on SQL scripting experience, including complex queries, data transformation, and reconciliation
- 3+ years of Python or similar scripting experience for automation and data processing
- Deep experience with database technologies and with ETL and data-migration concepts and tools, including schema design and performance considerations
- Experience implementing AI-driven solutions for automation, workflow optimization, and data-driven insights, leveraging modern frameworks and AI models
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex implementations end to end and to mentor or provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with strong teamwork and customer-service mentality across executive and technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to validate, reconcile, and sign off on data and configuration for accuracy
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing product and respond strategically to evolving customer needs
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field
